Kohler Shower Valve No Hot Water [3 Easy Solution]

After handling some similar cases, we’re differentiating the causes of no hot water coming out from a shower valve into 3 different major facts. Here are those with the tricks to handle them and learn how to Kohler shower valve temperature adjustment.

1. Cartridge And Valve Stuck Problem

The core cartridge is the primary control over the pressure balance mechanism. Usually, the shower system has two separate inlets for hot and cold water. The cartridge keeps the pressure level from both sides even and ensures the flow of water accordingly from any of those valves.

Sometimes, the cartridge that slides into water supplies may get stuck at the side of the cold inlet. This is the most common reason for not having hot water. Besides, the excessive mineral deposits, rust, or white material may even block cartridges from moving properly.

How To Fix:

  • First of all, turn off the whole water supply of the bathroom, or else fixing the valve would turn into calling a plumber for a more significant issue.
  • Unscrew the handle. There is a screw secured mostly under the handle’s lever. Use an Allen wrench to loosen it.
  • Inspect the washer. If there is any sign of wearing or cracking, it needed to be replaced. Keep in mind that while replacing, you are using original Kholer products, or else, after a few months, you need to repeat the same things. If the washer is fine, check out the valves.
  • You can also find sediment clogging the hot water line. Anyone can fix this in a few minutes. Just use a vinegar-water mixture to pull out the white material and the valve problem is fixed. [Mix vinegar and water at a ratio of 1:1 and it would be good to work with effortlessly.]
  • When cleaning and inspecting are done, reassemble!

2. Leaking Problem

When the valve or cartridge starts leaking water instead of guiding the water in the right direction, you’d see the faucet pouring less amount of hot water. Instead of reaching the top, hot water would leak from the bottom of the system.

How To Fix:

If there is a leaking problem, it may take some time to fix. Leaking often occurs when the cartridge and valve make trouble. Here, replacing the cartridge or only the cartridge collar is the key task.

  • The first two steps are the same. After unscrewing the handle, remove the adapter of the shower. The adapter is secured with 2 screws, simply loosen them and slide the adapter off.
  • Next, unscrew the trim plate and pull off the cartridge. The trim plate is called a cartridge collar, attached with several screws, and secures the cartridge.
  • Replace the old one with a new cartridge collar and assemble the screws to tighten properly.

Note: If you are not an expert and don’t have any idea about the shower valve, it is recommended to hire a professional.

3. Unequal Pressure To Hot & Cold Inlets On Shower Valve

Both hot and cold inlets behind the wall have separate screws, closures, handles, or valves to set the amount of pressure and water supply. During the installation of a new shower valve, if you set the cold inlet valve or screw fully open and the hot inlet valve less open, you’d find the new Kohler shower valve has no hot water.

How To Fix:

  • Bring out the shower valve and other accessories first. Then, you’d clearly see the pipings and the inlets.
  • Both inlet valves or screws need to be in the same position. Or, you can also open up the hot inlet valve a bit more than the cold one.
  • But it’s best to keep the valves in the same position. Uneven pressure would ultimately damage the plumbing in the future.

How Durable Is Kohler Shower Head

Frankly speaking, very durable. No one can deny how pleasing and long-lasting a Kohler showerhead can be. The build and the functions are truly mind-blowing in any Kohler model.

The company’s recent product TS99764-4-CP Honesty Rite shower and valve combo comes with pressure-balancing technology that can handle temperature fluctuations precisely. And the metal level has a very responsive valve inside that can stay firm, yet follow any command accordingly.

And surprisingly, the product’s Rite-Temp valve technology is universally fit for any bath or shower system. No doubt the temperature regulation system here would adapt the pressure levels (more than 50 PSI) without getting any damage. Furthermore, the seize resistance feature completes the whole package without keeping any flaws in the package.
